Drag33 is back with a vengeance. There’s rumours going around that this is a diss tune directed at Iron_Newt after mugged off Drag33 in our last interview. IMHO it wasn’t that deep, but either way I’m Drag33 threw a tantrum cos this one is a bit of a weapon. It was premiered on Chlorine•FM last Friday and got replayed back and forth repeatedly for 7 hours straight, with Drag33 ocasionally hopping on the mic and screaming profane threats at Iron_Newt.

The stupid whistling lead is a controversial moment for the scene - some love the out of tune monophonic f*ckery, others think it sounds like it has no place in the overwhelmingly brooding SporeStyle movement.

Iglooghost sent me the tune over and had this to say about it: “Coral Mimic is my go at a new local subgenre people are calling Post-Coil. I made it on a horrible corrosive drum sequencer that can only be touched with gloves on. Every 4 minutes the LCD display gets obscured by an internal fuel leakage, so I had to keep stopping so I could siphon the excess diesel out in time. The tune turned out alright but you can tell I'm clearly really pissed off cos of the technical issues distracting me.”

Newcomer APHID.111 bursts his way onto the scene with GREY_FLUX. With all the Tektonikore hype it’s easy to forget the scene also needs some steady-paced music. Trench.Wave as a genre is a bit underappreciated in that regard!

We are happy to confirm we have insider information on the new Chlorine•FM HQ rumours! If you haven’t been living under a rock, you have probably noticed all the construction activity in abandoned Southeastern harbour. Spudz and the C•FM crew are working on a perma-studio after having their sh*t constantly shut down. They reckon that this antenna is so far out to sea that nobody will bother to come & wreck it. Hopefully it’s worth it coz everyone knows how dangerous it is out there… the waves are massive & obviously all the toxic gunk is a lot more corrosive the further away from land.
Hopefully it’ll be done in the next few weeks unless somebody falls off a pylon or some sh*t. Oh yeah, we’re not really meant to say this but… apparently they’re planning a massive radio show with loads of the most exciting music heads in the scene. Wish we could say more but Spudz will absolutely lose it.

Extremely f*cked news . . . the new Chlorine FM studio has been really badly damaged by some kind of massive idiot f*cking creature. Luckily nobody was on site at the time, but this is really gonna set Spudz and the crew back. Obviously everyone knows they’ve been building a sick new tower for the past couple months, and it was about to be a really bangin kommunity hub.
I’ve heard Spudz is fuming about this and is looking into ways of getting rid of these creatures. He’s also still planning the massive radio show . . . just obviously it’s gonna have to be transmitted from a different tower. Hopefully nothing gets ruined again.

We’re very excited (and proper nervous) to bring you this interview with IRON_NEWT, the label head-in-chief of the infamous Plunge Rekordings. Now obviously IRON_NEWT is a very controversial figure in the scene, but is also undeniably behind bringing us some of the most iconic tunes and deranged nights to ever come out of the scene. Of course, of course… uh… it’s a big day today for PLUNGE isn’t it?
IRON_NEWT: YEH IT’S A MASSIVE ONE. BASICALLY WE’VE BEEN PUTTING ALL THE CASH WE MADE FROM REKORDS INTO SECRETLY BUILDING A NEW KLUB. IT’S GREAT TIMING COS OUR USUAL SPOT’S STRUCTURAL BEAMS COLLAPSED EARLIER IN THE WEEK.
Really good to hear… I know there’s a lot of pissed off kids who were gonna go to those ⌖OIL RIG 93 nights this weekend.
IRON_NEWT: WELL, THIS NEW SPACE IS GONNA BE BIGGER & BETTER. CAN’T SAY TOO MUCH BUT LET’S JUST SAY THE ⌖ABANDONED BUS DEPOT AINT GONNA BE EMPTY FOR MUCH LONGER.
While it was still standing, ⌖OIL RIG 93 was a really important spot… could you talk a little bit like what it was like in the early days?
IRON_NEWT: EVERYONE WHO MAKES HALF DECENT TUNES WAS IN THE CROWD AT THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS WE DID. LARVA_E WAS THERE… W0MB20… APPARENTLY EVEN METAM0RF WAS CUTTING ABOUT. BEFORE YOU KNEW IT, EVERYONE WAS BLASTING THEIR EARLY DEMOS… IT TURNED INTO A FREE-FOR-ALL… EVERY TIDAL SCENE SUBGENRE COEXISTED IN A PRIMORDIAL FORM THERE. PUTTING ON A NIGHT IN ⌖OIL RIG 93 WAS JUST A DAFT IDEA ME & TRUE_AMNIOTE01 CAME UP WITH, SO IT WAS BONKERS TO SEE ANYONE HAD COME (EVEN IF IT WAS HALF-EMPTY!)

So when did the record label itself come about?
IRON_NEWT: NOBODY WAS PUTTING TUNES OUT PROPERLY. OBVIOUSLY EVERY WEIRDO IN THE COASTAL REGION HAS BEEN MAKING MUSIC FOR MOST OF THE YEAR… BUT ALL THE TECH IS SO SH*T THAT THE HARDDISK MEMORY WOULD FULLY WIPE AFTER A DAY. ME & THE PLUNGE KREW PUT OUR CASH TOGETHER TO DEVELOP HARDDISK TECH THAT ONLY WIPES ITSELF AFTER 1 YEAR. NOW WE SELL THE TUNES ON THE NET & RAKE IN EXOCOINS.
Woah I didn’t even know Plunge Rekords tunes can exist for a whole year before they physically disintergrate!?

XCLUSIVE CHAT WITH UPCOMING SPORESTYLE GROUP ‘CYST
I had the chance to chat with the elusive ‘Cyst’ a SporeStyle band that makes a waves around town with their pioneering take on the genre. Most nights they’re playing in a shipping container somewhere around town, usually frequented by the most bohemiam of SporeStyle wa*nkers. Their aloof and lazy performance style has been described both as ‘extremely lazy’ and ‘actually bangin when you think about it in the right way.’
How would you describe your sound in 2 words?
Cyst: NEW ALKALINE.
I have no idea what that means. Feel like this is gonna be a tough interview. There’s a lot of buzz about you two around town, are you aware of what people are saying?
Cyst: DUNNO BUT OUR SHOWS ARE ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY RAMMED.
How would you describe the state of the SporeStyle scene right now?

Right… dunno where to start really. My name’s Protozoa99 and this is my first article. Sick to be given this platform so I wanna shout out TRUE_AMNIOTE01 + the NORTH ABYSS KREW. Alright here we go…
The ‘Tidal Scene’ is a loosely defined name for the burgeoning subcultures that are developing the UK’s coastal regions. In the wake of mysterious magnetic storms, as well as the water cycle becoming plagued with unidentified exotic gunk - the communities in these coastal regions have collapsed & quickly reassembled into splinter groups of rogue junk-hoarding scrap weirdos.
Some of these absolute freaks have taken to the beaches to sift through otherworldly artefacts that the ocean seems to constantly be projectile vomiting. Other oddballs have been obsessively creating & distributing strange music made in intense boredom. All these newly ungovernable towns are ripe with opportunity to blast horrible, abrasive mutated strains of music out of abandoned shortwave antennae & decaying emergency broadcast systems.
The denizens of these music scenes are becoming increasingly hardcore and territorial as they drift further into their isolation from the rest of the country. My mate Nobbi told me somebody wrote “TEKTONIKORE WILL NEVER DIE” in gasoline + lit it on fire the other night when the Plunge Rekords takeover set was on the radio.
It’s been getting hectic and everyone knows it… people have been taking sh*t way too far recently. Arguably it’s hard to complain when the tunes are getting better + better & louder… I feel like everyone’s trying to outdo eachother. All these tunes have a bizarre sonic quality to them cos all of the hardware had to get remade from scratch with the tools available. I think the magnetic storms are f*cking with peoples’ braincells tbh… cos even the biggest geeks can’t remember how to build computers properly anymore. Watching my friends make tunes on these systems feels so demented… it looks like it came out of a parallel universe’s version of 2003. Pretty funny.

I probably need to address the rumours about that MorseWhistling stuff. Basically loads of nutcases are saying some music makers are slipping in hidden codes into their tunes that only certain elite Drifters can understand… like secret sonar messages or some sh*t. I don’t really know. Hopefully these tunes aren’t a front for organized crime or something cos there’s some absolute belters being made rn. Actually, maybe it’s time to talk about that now…

This is probably the hottest sh*t being played right now. People go nuts for Tektonikore these days. It’s basically just a big competition of who can make the most grating, horrible 4D music with the myriad of crap technology available. Speed and sounds with that “nail-on-chalkboard” quality are top priorities. This scene is full of proper intense maniacs… they’re all at war with eachother over who can get the least sleep & broadcast the most heinous thrillride war-music. Quite funny hearing Iglooghost try to hop on the bandwagon with that ‘Collision Data’ tune.

A hip soundtrack to a gloomy evening watching the smoggy-lime light pollution sunset by the rockpools. This is the slower, cerebral side of this putrid scene. An artist called bile.Feedr is said to have accidentally created the genre when her SSD got covered in gooseneck barnacles & started playing her tunes at ¼ speed.

The vocalists will either scream their heads off or miserably mumble vile imagery. There’s a song called ‘Coral Mimic’ that every band has their own f*cked up version of. Everyone argues who originally wrote it.

Some kind of uglier pollutionpilled version of pre-storm UK beats. I think since the net went down & hardly any electronics work anymore, nobody can remember what old music properly sounds like. Someone called DNA.KEYGEN is an early culprit of causing this to happen. His earlier tunes sounded like decent approximations of pre-storm beats, but they’ve gradually become infested by grating crunches & meandering psuedo-bass. Enjoyed mostly as nostalgic music but it’s slowly becoming controversial.

All that you’re left with is that purile hipnotik atmosphere. Sounds like floating in an isolation tank filled with sewage… relaxing but probably gonna make you ill! Apparently the top listeners are all frequent posters on /MYSTERIOUSCREATURES/… checks out to me tbh. I gotta admit I quite enjoy FILTH PURGE by AMOEBA_CURE.
